The goal of MK 1 was to test autonomous flight on a plane built with foam core design. I chose to use Mateksys autopilot components running Ardupilot because I liked the price and weight, as well as the form factor with a built in PDB. MK 1 was loosely based off of a design for a long range FPV plane by AeroStuff FPV on Youtube, but was redesigned to use the building techniques I prefer.

Mk1 flew well initially, but flew considerably worse with the added weight of the autopilot. Regardless, it was able to fly waypoint missions effectively and I was extremely impressed with how well the Ardupilot software controlled the aircraft.
